FYD Amps Lurie 19 D&K Custom Guitar Amp Head Black

The Lurie 19 is an original design of Dan's that he'd built for himself to use in his band. The design started with a Marshall 18 watt with a pair of EL-84 power tubes.  Dan added a full tone stack for tone shaping and stirred in some things he'd learned from a Matchless Lightning. For example the first gain stage is an EF86 tube like you'd find in the earliest Vox AC-15's or the Matchless DC30's.

There's also an excellent Master volume.  To Dan's original design I wanted to have some tonal options so he added a "lean" and a "fat" pull switch so that you can change the character of the amp for the type of guitar you're using.  And finally he added a Kevin O'Connor designed London Power, power scaling circuit so that you can dial the power from 0 to the full 18 watts the amp will produce dimed.  

The flexibility of this compact and loud little head is hard to fathom except in person but be assured that it will do everything from sparkling cleans to Marshall mean.  Also as the pre and power sections are so flexible, it can be set up to run on the edge of break up or set up clean as a pedal platform of reasonable volume, similar to a Marshall 18 watt or Vox AC-15.  Your speaker choice will also dictate the direction of the tone of course from Blue Bells to Greenbacks to Creambacks, I had good luck with all of the above.
