1965 Epiphone SB-533 Coronet Red

1965 Epiphone SB-533 Coronet Red

SETUP & INSPECTED BY OUR LUTHIER

Weight: 5.5 lbs

Case: Original Hardshell Case w/ Original Manual

Year: 1965

Cosmetic Condition: Incredible original condition with mild general wear as to be expected on an instrument this age. It has a handful of blemishes throughout including a good sized chip in the finish on the side of the guitar. There is a bit of buckle rash on the back and scratching throughout. See our listing photos.

Tech Notes: Setup truly great with 5/64 to 4/64 action across the 12th fret, with 9-42 D'Addarios. Nut measuring at 1 5/8". A bit of first position fretwear, especially on the board. Looks like some frets were leveled on the high E as well 15 and up. Still, great player, no major fretbuzz, neck adjusts perfectly with a single action rod, neck angle is perfect, bridge intonated quite well, all notes play clean, pickup sounds great, all electronics appear perfectly stock original, and all function properly without crackle or buzz. Potentiometers date to July of 1964, which is consistent with the serial dating 1965. Bridge is aftermarket as well as the tuners were replaced (our best guess) in the 70's or 80's with Grover replacement tuners (which functional well). Very pleased with this guitar, a great player.
